The Bodhisattva Institute

The Bodhisattva Institute began in Tucson in 1989. Under the spiritual direction of the Venerable Lama Lodu Rinpoche, countless beings have benefited from studying and practicing the teachings of the Dharma, the words and practices taught by The Buddha.

The Bodhisattva Institute is a non-profit church corporation devoted to the practice and study of Buddhism, to daily meditations and ongoing teachings, and to firmly planting the Buddha Dharma in the community. In addition, the corporation exists: to provide training and guidance for daily living, community interaction, and social programs for the needs of its members and the community at large; to work towards fostering the tradition of ordained and lay practitioners alike; and to help foster the Bodhisattva ideal of practicing loving kindness and compassion for all living beings in all situations.

Our Lineage Masters

Tibetan Buddhism has a rich history. The Kagyu lineage began with Tilopa in the 10th century and has continued in an unbroken line to the current days.

This photo is a priceless look at the Kagyu lineage masters in the 1980's. They include The 16th Karmapa, Tai Situ Rinpoche and Jamgon Kontrul. Seated is Kalu Rinpoche who was our director Lama Lodu Rinpoche's root guru and teacher.

Below are biographies and links to our current lineage masters.
